An introduction to biosecurity.
We are already on day 5 of #INNSWEEK 2022! INNS Week is a national initiative to raise awareness of the negative impact of invasive species across the UK. Each day we will be discussing a different theme. Today we will be talking about biosecurity.
What is biosecurity?
"Biosecurity refers to a set of precautions that aim to prevent the introduction and spread of harmful organisms. These include non-native tree pests, such as insects, and disease-causing organisms, called pathogens, such as some bacteria and fungi" (GOV, 2022). There are several initiatives going on at the moment with the intention of raising awareness about biosecurity and reducing the spread of invasive non native species.

What can you do to help?
